The Pinfold of Treflach

Pinfold dressed stone

Pictured are dressed stonework, the remains of what was a pound for stray cattle in a roadside hedge – old ordinance survey maps show its position.

Cattle have been a management tool of this land for centuries and flowers like the ox slip, ox eye daisy and ox tongue are named after the browsing animals whose grazing habit allows them to flourish today on its marginal land.
