The Leaf Drifts of Treflach

As a child I remember coming down this road on many occasions coming across old men with containers and bags collecting these leaves for their allotments before the invention of garden centres with all their available composts.

I used to think to myself that when Tref-iach used to be a forest how these drifts must have headed across the Shropshire plain with no hedges and lanes to collect in.

Today these hedges sitting on old enclosure walls are warmth and security to anything that hibernates and a spectacle to anyone passing by and looking on.
